Our home celebrates national Dementia Care Award win

We are celebrating after being named winners at the Dementia Care Awards 2026, which recognise excellence and innovation in dementia care across the UK.

Our home won The Living Well With Dementia: Co-Production and Partnership Award, recognising our commitment to ensuring people living with dementia are actively involved in shaping their own care and everyday lives.

The team celebrated their success at the awards ceremony, which took place at the Hilton London Bankside Hotel, before returning home to celebrate with residents, whose ideas, experiences and feedback have helped make the home the award-winning community it is today.

Home Manager Jade Hackett, a mental health nurse and dementia interpreter trainer, said: “We’re all incredibly proud to have received this award. It reflects the passion, compassion and dedication of every member of our team, who go above and beyond every day to help our residents live fulfilling and meaningful lives.

“As the Bramley Family, we create experiences together that are shaped by connection, choice and a genuine sense of purpose and belonging. This award belongs just as much to our residents and their families as it does to us.”

The judges praised Bramley Court for creating “an inspiring model of dementia care where every resident is valued, heard and empowered.”

In their citation, they added: “Their belief that dementia is part of a person’s story, not their identity, is reflected through personalised care, meaningful choices and a strong sense of community.

“Through innovation, research and opportunities for connection and independence, Bramley Court demonstrates exceptional compassion, creativity and commitment, ensuring people living with dementia continue to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives.”

Residents play an active role in designing life at the home, helping to shape activities, daily routines and the environment around them. This person-centred approach is reflected in our home’s 2026 resident survey, where every resident said they felt they had a meaningful say in decisions affecting their lives, while relatives said their loved ones had maintained a strong sense of identity.

“Our remarkable residents shape our home through their interests, ideas and feedback,” Jade said. “We don’t define people by their dementia. Instead, we support every resident to continue living with purpose, making choices and enjoying the things that matter most to them.”

The judges were also impressed by our home’s innovative outdoor Dementia Village, which encourages safe independence through everyday experiences and features a café, workshop, village shop and gym with personalised exercise programmes and physiotherapy.

Community involvement is central to life at Bramley Court. Residents recently welcomed visitors from the local area, along with friends and family members to the home’s gardens as part of Histon and Impington Open Gardens. They regularly take part in intergenerational activities, creative arts sessions, music, museum visits and personalised Namaste Care sessions.

Innovation also plays a key role in the home’s approach. Working in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University and Care England, Bramley Court’s caffeine reduction study resulted in a 62 per cent increase in residents’ sleep duration and a 77 per cent reduction in falls, improving both wellbeing and safety.

Exercise is an important part of everyday life. Earlier this year, the Bramley Ramblers walking group, which was created by residents living with dementia, completed 50 miles and raised more than £1,000 for Dementia UK.

Resident Phil, 82, who is part of the group, said: “This has helped me feel determined to live my best life while helping others with dementia.”

Bramley Court is a 72-bedroom home providing high-quality residential, nursing and specialist dementia care and is rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
