ACTS OF KINDNESS

ACTS OF KINDNESS STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY LINKS

During the Covid-19 pandemic, we have been overwhelmed by the way the local community has reached out to our residents with unwavering kindness and generosity.

Our much-cherished residents here at Bramley Court have received so many letters and gifts from local children and relatives alike to let them know that, even though they are apart, they are not alone. It brought so much joy to us all when we received a letter from our Little Bramley’s who usually visit us, to tell us how much they were missing us.

As well as these artistic gifts, Lois made a stunning patchwork quilt for Maureen which she loved, and our nurses received beautiful orchids to celebrate National Nurses Day. We even had a donation from our friends at the Fitzwilliam Museum supplying us with endless artwork to continue our art sessions. This has provided us with many a fantastic afternoon discussing art and life in general!

And we were all overjoyed when our very own central office sent over treats for our carers and resident; one day it was an ice cream van, the next it was a surprise batch of lollipops and snow cones. We were even sent sensory packs of oils and creams designed to trigger beautiful memories. Such simple gestures to let us know we are, as ever, in their hearts and minds – they were greatly appreciated and went down a treat.

It has been these gestures, from local friends and companies alike, as well as letters of encouragement, that have truly touched us; the effort the community has gone to, to stay connected and let our residents know they are still a much-loved part of this neighbourhood, has strengthened our bond even tighter than ever.
