Health and Wellbeing
A holistic wellbeing and fitness journey for all
At Bramley Court we recognise that we are all unique individuals with our own set of values and beliefs regarding wellness and exercise.
Therefore, a diverse exercise programme is offered to suit a wide range of needs, abilities and interests. We work in partnership with residents to develop individually-tailored fitness programmes, complete with goal setting and monthly reviews.
By offering a diverse programme of group, one-to-one, indoor and outdoor sessions and classes, residents have the opportunity to try something new and are supported and encouraged to continue to move forward in their fitness journey.
For residents who are less mobile and frailer, we offer a range of passive exercises and Namaste Care sessions to support feelings of wellbeing and meaningful living.
Celebrating individual successes
Everyone’s successes are a cause for celebration at Bramley! Goal setting is shared and celebrated amongst peers, so when individuals reach their personal best in the gym or a group class, or achieve a milestone in their journey, it is celebrated with fellow residents and the team – boosting each person’s sense of accomplishment and motivating them to continue to achieve.
Our team’s approach
Our holistic therapist, Maddie supports emotional wellbeing with a focus on proactive pain management, whilst our in-house Anna Chaplain offers bespoke spiritual and emotional wellbeing sessions. We also have a dedicated and trained team, spanning all roles throughout our home, that delivers Namaste Care sessions daily.
Our skilled Nursing team completes initial assessments for residents’ mobility needs, identifying any mobility aids required to support independence. The team works closely with our wellbeing team to ensure a safe, individually-tailored health and wellbeing programme, to help with personal recovery from injury or ill-health as well as maintenance and improvement of fitness levels.
Our nursing team also assesses residents post hospital admission or following a health change and feedback to our wellness team regarding each person’s personalised goal setting fitness journey.
The wellbeing team meets monthly to review progress and modify goals as needed which is then fully integrated in care planning and reviews.
Our weekly wellness and fitness programme
Monday and Wednesday
Our walking club enables residents get to exercise in the great outdoors with Milton Country Park being a favourite as it is a great space to walk in the woods and observe the river and local wildlife. We walk in all weathers, even if it’s to the village café for a welcoming cup of coffee to warm us up in the winter.
Tuesday and Friday
We offer group exercises classes, led by Sharon, our exercise lead and other experienced members of the care and wellbeing team. Classes include Pilates and focus on core balance, strengthening upper and lower body, improved hand eye co-ordination and balance & cardiovascular work.
Wednesday
Our much-loved Zumba class is led by our qualified fitness and dance Instructor Sara and supported by Sharon our exercise lead, with other team members taking part too, to foster a whole team approach to exercise. Zumba classes, which bring a sense of fun, cater to both seated and standing provision.
Thursday
We get our dancing shoes ready for our line dancing class which focuses on core balance and fitness.
Throughout the week we also have skittles and bowls which bring both a fun and competitive element and promote gentle movement & exercise whilst improving hand eye co-ordination.
Our gym sessions run twice weekly in the afternoon in our home gym which offers specialised exercise equipment suitable for older age groups.
We also hire out specialised trikes at Milton Country Park, which give residents with restricted mobility the opportunity to feel the wind in their hair whilst they co-cycle with a team or family member.
Our whole-home approach to exercise and wellness supports residents with motivation to exercise and creates a feeling of wellbeing, enhancing daily life, independence, fun and a sense of adventure.
