Bramley Court Care Home Activities Coordinators win top award

Bramley Activities Coordinators are the best in the East of England

The Activities team, Helen Waspe and Jamie Willimott at Bramley Court Care Home, have won the award for the Best Activities Co-ordinator in the East of England Good Care Awards, presented at a Gala dinner at Norwich Football Club, on Wednesday 25th November.

The purpose of the awards are to pay tribute to those individuals and teams who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.

Rachael Watts, Bramley Court’s manager, says: “The activities co-ordinator role in any care home is crucial to the well-being of residents. And there are many out there who do a good job. But Helen and Jamie are something very special. Seeing them work together is inspiring. They are like a double-act, sparking off each other, lifting the mood of all around them, having and creating fun, but all the while being supportive and kind. I am absolutely delighted that their dedication has been recognised with this award”.

Throughout the past year Helen and Jamie have produced a lively activity programme at Bramley Court, recognised by the judges in this award. They have also forged links with community organisations, including schools and churches, and also the local Cam Trust with which they have started a community choir at the home.

Rachael adds: “There have been so many great activities that our residents have loved this year, it’s difficult to pin point one in particular. The week-long celebration for the Queen stands out in my memory. They gathered royal memories from our residents and compiled a book of messages that was sent to the Palace. Then they organised a bus trip to London – organising a sing along en route. In the summer, they covered our car park in Astroturf and ran a fantastic Proms in the Park. And they organised the choir to make a wonderful CD – a Musical Journey Through World War 2 – inspired by the VE day celebrations to raise fund for the British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. Fantastic work!”
