Creativity and Connection at Bramley Court
Discover how our Lifestyle Team has been busy adapting our packed schedule of meaningful activities and events with heartwarming results.
While the past few months have brought unprecedented restrictions for all of us, life at Bramley Court has by no means slowed down. Our much-loved residents have been as active as ever while we’ve been coming up with creative new home-based activities and alternative ways to continue to stay in touch with loved ones.
Our residents’ are amazing and we all enjoy learning from each other. One way we have honoured this connection is by creating personalised photo albums for our residents to enjoy, featuring family photos and our own treasured snaps of daily life at Bramley. These beautiful mementos have become real talking points for everyone to discover and enjoy.
Video messages from friends and family have also been warmly received where in-person visits haven’t been possible. It’s been wonderful seeing our residents’ faces light up at the sight of their children and grandchildren.
But for one resident, Ivor and his beloved wife Dorothy, who have been married for over 60 years and have never spent this long apart, the separation was too much. So, we arranged a socially distanced visit for them both in Dorothy’s garden – a truly touching and emotional reunion for all.
With the absence of our regular groups, our team has been showcasing its impressive musical talents, with regular performances on the harp, cello, and piano! We have also managed to stage a few special outdoor performances including lively classics from The Banjo Man. This has delighted our residents who love to sing and dance.
Animal therapy plays an important role within our home too and our gentle dog Pip loves nothing better than spending time with our residents. Whether it be a walk in the gardens, a bit of fuss, or curling up nearby, Pip continues to be a real source of comfort. Also popular, for their entertaining ways, are our chickens which can be found in our beautiful sensory gardens. Residents enjoy feeding them every day and ensuring they have everything they need to produce lots of lovely fresh eggs.
These are just some of the meaningful activities that have brought everyone together in these challenging times – making Bramley Court, the loving, vibrant home that it is.
