A nature lover has celebrated her 100th birthday this week surrounded by family, friends – and even the odd owl.

Bramley Court resident Elsie Williams was visited by Fitz Roy the kestrel, and owls Isis and Ra after staff at the home laid on the treat in honour of her passion for all things flora and fauna.

A particular highlight for Elsie, who has lived at Bramley Court for five years, was the Indian Scops owl, weighing at a tiny three and three quarter ounces.

Mike Willis, of the bird supplier Fens Falconry, said: “We have never taken our birds to a 100th birthday party before, but it’s a lovely idea as birds are clearly Elsie’s great passion.”
